Manchester United and Chelsea could compete for the signature of Ousmane Dembele, according to Sport.
The Frenchman has nine months left on his Barcelona deal, and he has yet to commit to a new long-term contract.
There are suggestions that he could walk away on a free transfer. There is plenty of interest in his services.
United are long-term admirers of him. They continue to be linked despite the summer arrival of Jadon Sancho.
The Blues are also in the mix to land the World Cup winner, who is eyeing a fresh challenge away from the Blaugrana.
Both teams can negotiate a pre-contract with Dembele in January. Juventus are also deemed to be interested in him.
Dembele suffered a hamstring injury playing for France this summer, but he is close to making his comeback.
There are suggestions that Barcelona may be reluctant to play him unless he puts pen-to-paper on a new contract.
That appears unlikely to happen at the moment. It remains to be seen how the club react to his contract stand-off.
