Chelsea are set to compete with Real Madrid and Juventus to sign Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.
The Blues were linked with the Frenchman this summer, but they decided to sign Saul Niguez on loan from Atletico Madrid.
The move has not proved worthy. The Spain international has struggled to make any sort of impact for the west London giants.
There is the possibility of Niguez returning to Atletico in January, and the Blues could revive their interest in Tchouameni.
According to Marca, Los Blancos have identified Tchouameni as a top target following his impressive showing in the Nations League final.
However, they are expected to face competition for his services with both Blues and Juventus also weighing up potential transfer offers.
Monaco want around £34 million, and it appears that there could be a bidding battle between three of Europe’s elite clubs.
Tchouameni will want the assurance of regular starts. Juventus may have the edge over the Blues and Los Blancos this winter.
They are ready to offload Weston McKennie and Aaron Ramsey to bring in Tchouameni with the guarantee of consistent game time.
