Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in landing the services of Timo Werner from Chelsea.
The Germany international bagged 12 goals and 15 assists in his debut season for the Blues, but he was still far from his best.
This prompted the club to pursue Romelu Lukaku this summer. The Belgian has excelled with three goals from as many games.
He is currently the undisputed striker ahead of Werner. The latter has played just nine minutes over the past three league matches.
Werner is reportedly assessing his options ahead of the New Year, and Football Insider claims that he could return to Bundesliga.
Bayern are long-term admirers of him, and they could look to land his signature as early as the January transfer window.
It is unclear whether manager Thomas Tuchel or the Blues’ hierarchy will sanction the mid-season departure of the 25-year-old.
They recently blocked a late loan exit for Callum Hudson-Odoi. The winger was the subject of interest from Borussia Dortmund.
